Although slower to break into real estate, this generation – aged 18 to 33 – is beginning to benefit from the recovery. “Millennials are the largest generation of people in the U.S. and represent 60 percent of first-time homebuyers,” said Jonathan Smoke, chief economist for realtor.com®. “They are also more likely than any other group to purchase a home in the next year.”
“While Millennials are the primary topic of conversation, they are just one group that is impacting real estate right now,” commented Anian Tunney, Piedmont, CA real estate agent broker. “Millennials entering the market are competing with Baby Boomers who are starting to downsize. The third group of note in housing market is multi-generational home buyers.
