Bass tourney raises funds for MDA

The Fayette/Nicholas Beckley Board of Realtors hosted a bass fishing tournament April 30 on Summersville Lake and raised over $1,000 to donate to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The muscular dystrophies are a group of more than 30 genetic diseases characterized by progressive weakness and degeneration.

The funds from the event help MDA provide services and support for families affected by these several life-debilitating neurological diseases.

After a full day of fishing, the first-place prize of $600 went to Brian Cavendish and Jason Gillispie with a total weight of 10.76 pounds, and the second-place award of $200 went to William McGuire and Dean Brody with 9.42 pounds.

The local Board of Realtors are members of the National Association of Realtors working for America’s property owners. The National Association of REALTORS® provides a facility for professional development, research and exchange of information among its members and to the public and government for the purpose of preserving the free enterprise system and the right to own real property.

The Fayette/Nicholas Beckley Board of Realtors offered special thanks to their VIP sponsors: Real Estate Limited, Field and Stream Real Estate, RE/MAX Real Estate Experts, Century 21 Jim Lively Real Estate, WV Realty Pros and Old Colony.

“I am honored to incorporate our Boards this year in an event that touches home for us,” said the president of the Fayette/Nicholas Board of Realtors. “Our son has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and has not only attended summer camp but has called on MDA for needed equipment.

“They have been a blessing and I am thankful to give back.”
