Ownit Mortgage Solutions Closes Its Doors

STUART, FL - Ownit Mortgage Solutions appears to be the latest victim of the decline in mortgage origination volume. A recorded message at several branch offiices now states; "Effective December 5th Ownit closed its doors and we are no longer able to fund or process your loans, we appologize for any inconvenience." It has been reported that Ownit funded loans for nearly 12,000 brokers.

According to the Ownit web site the company was in business for over 15 years, employed over 700 people and originated $8.3 billion in 2005.  No one at the company was available for comment.
